Establisment of the company JOAQUIN DAVILA Y CIA S.A., was founded in Vigo in the year 1917 and  developed its activity in the different fields of the maritime transport,  being Vigo the operational center of the firm. In the year 1962 the company was converted  into a public corporation The principal activities performed initially are outlined herewith: Tramp line agents Regular  feeder and  ocean line agents Custom agents Ship owners Over the years the firm established branch offices in the major spanish ports and  moved its main office to Madrid. The activities then  were extended to: Stevedoring. Container, reefer, frozen and multipurpose terminals. Chartering, Forwarding agents. Air cargo and IATA members. Logistic operators Road transport   At the same time other economical interests were being cretated in the fields of: Fish industry Frozen food process and its marketing. Property sector Nautical pleasure boating  Car rental   During 1995 a divisive process was carried out by the firm which developed in the creation of Maritima Davila S.A. being this the central office of the group. Thereafter other societies were constituted : Maritima Davila Bilbao, S.A., Maritima Davila Barcelona S.A., Maritima Davila Cadiz S.A., Maritima Davila Valencia S.A., and  Maritima Davila Algeciras S.A. The registered name of Joaquin Davila y Cia., S.A., was kept both in Vigo and Marin.   To the time being the Davila Group remains as a family firm same as when founded,  with offices in the following cities:   Vigo, Marin, Bilbao, Cadiz, Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid.
